Retuning for Digital TV
There are certain dates for different digital TV services that mean’s you will have to reset or retune your TV to receive the TV channels. The exact sequence of retuning your TV or set top box may be slightly different depending on the manufacturer but the typical method of retuning your TV will be:
- Bring up the menu on your TV, usually by pressing the menu button on your remote.
- In the menu options there is usually an option such as set up, installation or tuning TV, select this option.
- When you have selected this you may be required to enter a pin, if you do not know this pin or haven’t changed it since getting you TV it will probably be 0000 or 1234.
- There will then be an option for auto setup, update, rescan, replace channels or search channels, this will begin the retuning. (The option for manual tuning should only be selected if you’re looking for a particular frequency)
- If the TV then prompts you saying, pressing ok will remove your channels, press ok because the channels need to be replaced as it retunes your TV.
With many systems they will notify you when your set box needs retuning or your TV will display a message telling you to retune your TV. If you have a Sky system, however, you needn’t worry about retuning your TV as it will do this automatically for you.
