When Do I Switch to Digital?
The digital switchover is being put into action on a region by region basis from late 2009 running until 2012. When each region is switching can be found below.
- Anglia - 2011
- Border - 2009
- Central - 2011
- Channel Islands - 2010
- Granada (including Isle of Man) - 2009
- London - 2012
- Meridian - 2012
- STV Central – 2010/11
- STV North - 2010
- Tyne Tees - 2012
- Ulster - 2012
- Wales – 2009/10
- West - 2010
- West Country - 2009
- Yorkshire – 2011
Information on what you will need to do depending on what equipment you already have or may require to make the transition is being provided before each region is set to switch via local press, TV advertising and via existing digital services you may already receive.
In most cases where you already are capable of receiving a digital TV signal (if you already have a freeview box for instance) you will simply have to retune your set top box on a date specified. To find out more about how to retune your set top box we can help.*
Overseeing the whole process is Digital UK who are also working with three other companies to run Britain's digital switchover. The other companies are Ofcom the National Communications Regulator, The Department of Trade and Industry and continued support from the Department for Culture Media and Sports.
