The Cost of Switching to Digital
The cost of switching to digital is dependant on a few factors:
- It depends if you want to change over more than one TV in your house.
- If you want to buy a new TV with digital TV built in.
- If you want to pay a one off charge or if you want to pay a monthly subscription.
The least expensive option for the digital switch over tends to be buying a Freeview box this is because it can use your old TV and just convert the signal it receives. If you buy the box as a one off charge as well there’s the added advantage that once you have bought it there is no recurring cost.
If you choose to subscribe to a TV service such as Sky you will receive extra channels often including movie channels and specific interest channels such as history, nature and sports. There is a monthly amount that will have to be paid to receive this service and to watch movies that are in the box office section cost extra but many people use this service as they feel it’s more convenient than going to the video shop. Once you have had the system installed there will be a monthly amount that has to be paid and this will be dependant on the level of service and number of packages you have set up.
The most expensive initially is if you are to buy a TV with in built digital TV receiver, although the initial cost may be more there are no monthly payments to be made. Some of the benefits in having a TV with built in digital TV include:
- There are no monthly payments to be made.
- There are no extra wires or boxes you need to find space for on you TV stand.
With the wide options for digital TV now there is bound to be a system available to suit each person’s needs and requirements. The choice means that even if you don’t have much disposable income there is still an option suited to your budget.
